BSc Thesis: Development and Analysis of Beat and Tone Detection for Boomwhackers

During my Bachelor Thesis I researched and developed a system that can detect beats and tones from a set of boomwhackers. Boomwhackers are essentially tubes of various lengths, each corresponding to a certain note when hit. They are a populair educational instrument often used in schools for music education. I created a dataset of recorded samples, then developed and ran various beat and tone detection algorithms over it. The most refined design achieved 86% tone detection accuracy over the dataset. This was programmed/implemented using the Matlab software.
